Haptica develops simulators for training surgeons in minimally invasive surgical techniques and procedures.
Haptica offers it’s proprietary surgical simulator, ProMIS as a complete solution for training in laparoscopic skills and procedures. ProMIS is a core element of delivering residency training programs at over 130 leading surgical skills centers globally. ProMIS has been well validated for increasing surgical proficiency and has been recognized with three prestigious awards for innovation.
Haptica develops custom simulators for specific procedures and devices works, largely for corporate customers. The company works with instrument and device manufacturers to develop a more effective method of increasing exposure and delivering training, and thereby accelerating uptake of new devices and procedures, increasing surgical proficiency and, ultimately, delivering increased patient safety.
Haptica’s unique augmented reality technology – using virtual and physical reality – is well validated by leading surgical institutions as being a superior method of delivering surgical training. Haptica also engages in core R&D research to continue to build its proprietary and patented simulation platform. Haptica is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland and with a U.S. base in Boston MA.

Fiona Slevin
Chief Executive Officer
Fiona is a founder of Haptica and is responsible for marketing and commercialization of products and technologies. Prior to founding Haptica, Fiona was Director of Learning & Development at Diageo Plc, London, with responsibility for developing the company's strategic, leadership and e-business capabilities. At UDV, she won the Managing Director's Award for her work on Performance Management.
Fiona has also worked at Goldman Sachs, based in NYC & London and spent five years in change management consultancy. She has worked with three start-ups, two of which were in computer-assisted learning and simulation.
Bernard Collins
Chairman and non-executive director
A highly-experienced business person, with 30 years international general management and multi-functional experience, Bernard's career spans start-ups, rationalizations and turnarounds, LBOs and IPOs, and disposals in both large and small businesses. He has particular experience in the Medical Device/Health Care Sectors.
Most recently, Bernard was Vice President of International Operations and Director of International Board at Boston Scientific Corporation. He is currently a non Executive Director of IDA Ireland Ltd, non Executive Director of Boston Scientific International, non Executive Director of and Consultant to Aerogen Inc., U.S.A (NASDAQ AEGN).
Gerard Lacey, PhD
Co-founder and Director
Gerard is a founder of Haptica. Prior to that he was a lecturer in Computer Science and leader of the Computer Vision and Robotics group in Trinity College Dublin, where he also gained his PhD. He has managed large international research projects involving 17 different partners. His research has spanned industrial automation, robotics, computer vision and human computer interaction. Gerard spent time as a Visiting Researcher in MIT, Boston (1999) and at Edinburgh University (1995). He has over 30 publications in international conferences and journals. Gerard is currently working out of Trinity College Dublin.
